What is the Difference between PTFE Coated Fiberglass Fabric Belt and Mesh Conveyor Belt?

What is PTFE Coated Fiberglass Fabric Belt?

PTFE coated fiberglass fabric belt, also called PTFE coated belt or teflon conveyor belt, high temperature

resistant conveyor belt, are made of teflon fiberglass fabric. When it comes to the PTFE coated fiberglass

fabric belt, it can be easily delided into several parts: PTFE fabric belt, sealmess sealing bands&2-ply

belt, seamless belt.


In this part, I will introduce the PTFE fabric belt, like pic shows. We cut the standard grade Teflon fabric

according to the specific dimensions&color&thickness consumers want, then weld the joint, usually tooth

 joint, which brings the best tensile strength. Morover, we have the Kevlar guide and anti-slide buttons

 provided. The color of belts depends on that of Teflon fabric. 



Made of Teflon fabric, PTFE fabric belts owns the advantages of high temperature resistance, non-stick, 

easy-to-clean, FDA standard. Above-mentioned advantages ensures its ability to be used as the conveyor

belts in various industrial machines.

What is PTFE Mesh Conveyor Belt?

PTFE open mesh conveyor belt, also called PTFE mesh conveyor belt or mesh conveyor belt, is made of 

PTFE open mesh fabric or PTFE mesh fabric, whose mesh can be 4*4/10*10/1*1/2*2.5mm etc. As for the

 base PTFE mesh fabric, it can be brown and black(anti-static is available) in color. Morever, similar with the

PTFE fabric belt, we also have some accessories for it, such as the PTFE mesh fabric side sealer, red/right

film side sealer, anti-slide buttons and Kevlar guide.  Furthermore, PTFE mesh fabric is also made by

impregnating the fiberglass mesh fabric with PTFE  dispersion, so it also owns all the advantages same as

PTFE fabric, such as heat-resistant, anti-stick,FDA standard etc.

Differenece in Structure and Appearance

PTFE mesh belt

In terms of mesh conveyor belt, it looks like so many holes, whose dimension can be4*4/10*10/1*1/2*2.5mm

 etc. Moreover, the thickness of the is fixed, depends on base fiberglass mesh fabric, when it comes to the base fabric,

 it could be devided into single warp and weft/single warp double weft/reinforced double weft. 


For the color of PTFE mesh conveyor belt, the normal color is brown, which is also widely accepted worldwide.

Some times the consumers would prefer the balck mesh, and even ask it to be anti-static, it is also available.

Compared with PTFE fabric belts, the mesh belts appear to be limited in color.

In terms of PTFE fabric belt, it looks like the continurous PTFE fabric, since it is made of  PTFE fabric, no holes

 due to the full PTFE impregnation, here I would like to mention the PTFE porous fabric, whose PTFE dispersion

 is not full, consumers usually want it to be porous and high temperature resistant.


Different types of base Teflon fabric allows the PTFE fabric belt to be varied in color, thickness, stripeson surface.

Moreover, the joint types for PTFE fabric belt is much more varied than PTFE mesh fabric belt, such as overlap.

 teethjoint, alligator joint etc.

Difference in Application

PTFE fabric belt and PTFE mesh conveyor belt share some similar advantages, such as non-stick, high temperature resistant, food grade standard,

non-toxic and durablity, low elongation rate. That is to say, under some circumstances they could replace each other. But in some specific cases, they

have exlusive usage. Here I list some for reference.

Tortilla Belt

PTFE fabric belt for tortilla press machines works due to its non-stick, high temperature resistance, heat conduction

features, which ensures the successful cooking in case of no stick to the belt. The addition of heat quickly cooks the

 surface which also enables the Tortilla to release easily from the PTFE belt and top sheet.

Then why can’t the mesh fabric belt be used here? 

If we apply the mesh fabric here, there would be some breaks or impresses on the surface of tortilla or even break

the tortilla, only the PTFE fabric with flat and glossy surface could solve the questions in operations of Tortilla


In the pic the belts are in red, in our daily sales, some consumers would prefer the blue tear resistant version

Tortilla belts, whose thickness varies from 0.25~0.4mm. Moreover, same rules apply when it comes to the bread

machine etc.

By the way, for those food use application with no such requirement, PTFE mesh belt single warp and weft are also

widely used.

Industrial Drying Machine Belt

Compared with PTFE fabric belt, PTFE mesh conveyor belt owns the unique advantages ofporous, which

 would allow the air flow in the process of machine operation.

As seen in the pic, the PTFE mesh conveyor belt works as the conveyor belt in drying machine, PTFE fabric

 belt. Besides the drying machine, others like printing machine, screen printing machine, UV dryer machine,

 shrinking machines all need the mesh fabric belt, whose air flow feature can’t be provided by the PTFE fabric

Generally speaking, since PTFE coated belts and Teflon mesh conveyor beltsshare some common raw materials, that is fiberglass and PTFE dispersion,

they share some common features or advantages as well, such as non-stick, high temperature resistance, food grade standard, non-toxic etc, which

ensures the possiblity of their application in food industry. Whereas, there do be some difference in the apperaance and structure, which correspondingly

bring the difference in application.
